Caymus Suisun Valley Grand Durif Red Wine

Caymus Suisun Valley Grand Durif Red Wine

Caymus-Suisun Petite Sirah Grand Durif is produced in the Suisun Valley, California. Only a 30-minute drive southeast of Napa, Suisun Valley (which became an AVA in 1982) is still largely undiscovered. With its warm days and cool nights, this pastoral region with multi-generational family farmers reminds us of Napa Valley in the 1960s. Known for delicious stone fruits and walnuts, it is also gaining recognition for exceptional wine. Durif is synonymous with Petite Sirah, the widely grown grape in the region – we added “Grand” to the name for its grand style. With harmonious tannins, this wine is opulent, luxuriously soft, and totally enjoyable.

Coming from the Wagner family, Grand Durif features a deep, majestic purpose. The nose has notes of blueberries and earthy tones, while vanilla notes from oak aging come through on the finish. A Caymus-style wine that tastes delicious.

A regal maroon rimmed with purple, this vintage features rich, enveloping scents of French plums and German chocolate cake. A hint of pomace, vanilla, and floral potpourri adds freshness to the nose, while the wood on this wine cradles but never defines the fruit. On the palate, dark berry flavors mingle with tannins, each expanding again and again to march the other. An initial softness builds, evolving on the finish to the texture of blackberry preserves or the filling of a fig bar, creamy and luxurious.

Varieties: Petite Syrah

Origin: Sunsui Valley, North Coast, California, United States.
